Sweet people

I know of one...no, two 'sweet' people.

!) Sweet Caroline. At least Neil Diamond thinks that she is sweet. I'm sure you all know that he wrote the song for Caroline Kennedy WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD. Would he call her sweet now? I don't know but according to my beliefs he would not.

2) Sweet Sue. No idea who she is but a musician (????)
wrote a song about "Sweet Sue". Maybe based on a real person, maybe not.

Anyone else?

So, anyone else considered "sweet"?

Let it Snow!

So, I woke up this morning, so excited. Why, you may ask?Either look out your window or look at the title. That will give you the answer- snow! Rockville Centre got about 15 inches of snow! It is really cold outside. Cooper loves the snow, but it is 15 inches and he is a 15 inch beagle, so it is a bit deep for him. This snow will last for a loooonnnnnngggg time. The first snow of the season is always the best! It was a blizzard! It snowed here a little bit this morning at like 7:45. It snowed yesterday after noon and evening, but not as much as the night! By, I would say 8:00 the blizzard came. When I woke up this morning, I was so happy. It looks like a winter wonderland. I'll have a snowball fight later. Hopefully it is a snow day tomorrow, yet the roads will probably be clear by tomorrow. Last year, it even snowed on the first day of spring! But this snow is, I would say like the most I ever seen. I have a feeling (it is a good feeling for me, maybe not for you) that this will be a very snowy season.

Fortune Cookie

We ate out at a Chinese restaurant this evening. Nicole's fortune said "Play Lottery today. Lady Luck is upon you". Unusual fortune we thought. We all agreed - except for one dissenter - that we should buy lottery tickets TODAY. Michael argued against the logic of buying lottery tickets at all - and buying it because a fortune cookie said you should, well ... seemed even less logical.

We picked up 'Lucky Birthday', 'Holiday Cash', and 'Fortune Cookie' scratch off tickets. We gave Michael the 'Fortune Cookie' ticket. Cheryl scratched off the 'Lucky Birthday' ticket - no winner. Nicole scratched off the 'Holiday Cash' ticket - no winner. Michael scratched off the 'Fortune Cookie' ticket .... and won ! His take home is $20 dollars. He and Nicole are splitting the winnings. So much for logic !

Ode to Halloween

I love Halloween. The house is all decked out (although I could use more outdoor stuff - Party City near my house closed down and I do miss it - but I digress), the bowl is filled with candy and I'm ready for the trick or treaters. I've had, but not nearly enough. The problem is, our neighbors to the right and left don't participate, so kids have to decide if we're worth going to the end for (sometimes they just turn the corner across the street - you know how it is, you're tired of walking and you need to get the most bang for your buck so you stick to the side of the street with the most decorations.) I love trick or treaters and I miss trick or treating (maybe I should rent-a-kid for Halloween so I could take them out). BTW, the costumes are especially good this year I noticed - very put together, none of these kids with only but a bag to put candy in...Yesterday at work was actually fun - all Halloween, all day. Did any of you kids get dressed in costume for school? Fun, fun, fun. Sari

YAYY I POSTED!!!

Hey just checking in with everyone (because i guess the poetry was a sign I needed to participate more ahaha).I don't really have much to say, except I'm still hanging in there when it comes to the stressors of school. That news writing class is still hated with a passion, but I'm in the middle of working on the in-depth story(it's on the debate regarding the employment of synthetic turf in the district playing fields...ugh woo but that's my Merrick beat for ya aha) so at least it will be over soon.Film studies also is becoming a pain, because while I like analyzing films for content/themes, I'm not a fan of learning the technicalities of it all. We have to analyze a scene shot by shot for our midterm paper which I'm DREADING. Not to mention, our textbook is the most obnoxious thing to read, because the author talks to us like we're already experienced cinematographers, and uses ridiculously complicated language to explain a concept that could easily be simplified...like how a wide angle lens differs from a telephoto lens. Still, love my adolescent psych class though- that professor is HYSTERICAL. So it aint all bad ;)

**Also still mourning the loss of my i-pod, but I'm hearing my music through youtube for now. Speaking of music, I don't know why I'm all of a sudden getting into Springsteen!!!!!!!!! ahaha. Lately it's been obsessive listening between thunder road, badlands, promise land and the river (which is pretty sad actually). LOVE his lyrics.

Okay so that's it for now...pretty sure this long blog makes up for my absence on this site = ) toodles!-Lauren

NOT HALLOWEEN

No, it is not Halloween or any other holiday. It is not a birthday or anniversary. It is just a day that I am thinking about the bright and talented people in our Family.

We have dancers and choreographers, singers, musicians, a journalist, chessplayers, minds brilliant with numbers and figures, debaters, creative writers and actors, gymnasts and athletes, bloggers, and our social butterflies.

So, my ever so clever grandchildren, I WANT MORE PARTICIPATION FROM EACH OF YOU ON OUR FAMILY NEWSWIRE!!

Don't be so modest
There's no reason why
To hide your light
That shines so bright
Just because you're a little shy.

So can we add POET to the list?
Guys and girls, I challenge you to add a couple of lines to that poem.

Of course, there is no personal name or other identifying info connected to it as she goes under the name of "Firecracker Studios". Fun Adventure!

Today, I had my birthday party at Adventureland Amusement Park and it was awesome! It was the best birthday party I ever had. I invited 10 people but only 7 could make it, but that was fine, because it was a perfect amount of people. It was the greatest party! Everyone loved it. Buckle up, because I just invited you to a sneak peek of what my party was like.

This is a picture of me and some of my friends on our first ride, The Lady Bug. The Lady Bug is a rollercoaster. All of my friends went on this ride, but you can only see some. This ride goes up to 19 feet, it goes fast, and it can be a bit scary. It isn't small, but for sure not big. It is a lot of fun! There is one drop which is scary, you go high, and at the middle of the drop, it gets a little twisty and goes very fast. Can you find me?

After that, we split into groups, to go on different rides. The rides were either Hurricane (big roller coaster)or the Music Express. The Music Express is a very, very fast, spinning in a circle that has a waving motion. It is kinda like a rollercoaster, but not really. It is partly indoor, and in a circle that keeps going round and round. It is colorful and has loud music on. The Hurricane is a very big, twisty, fast rollercoaster. I went on the Music Express, I have never been on the Hurricane- too scary! 3 people went on the Hurricane, 4 people on the Music Express, including me. It was a lot of fun! It goes so fast that when you watch, the people on the ride just zoom past you. It went so fast I keep getting pushed by the force onto my friend (luckily she is much taller than me). My friend who went on the Hurricane loved it. After when the were done, we met up, and they went on the Music Express.

After that, we went on a ride called "Croccidile Run" It is very hard to explain, so sorry if I don't explain it well. You are standing on this thing, and there is water under you (like 1 and a half feet) but you are completely sucured and you do not touch the water. There is a water fall dripping thing that you go under it, and you try to steer away from it. The things that you stand on are moving, kinda fast. Here is a picture to bring my words alive-

I am the one in the back and in pink. The other person is my friend. We wanted to get a little wet, but not soaked (like one if my friends, it was so funny) We never got wet, and we tried to, but we couldnt, so when it stopped at the end, we were right near the water thing, so we stuck our hands out to touch it.

I went from one water ride to another, the next ride I went on was the Little Dipper! It is a small log flume. I would of went on the big log flume there, but it was on the other side of the park, and we didn't have much time. (For the party we had an hour for rides) Not everyone went on that, 3 other people went on a Swing Ride. A swing ride is wear you sit, and it swings around in a circle, but it goes fast and it is high up. The Little Dipper is pretty small, like 11.5 feet high, so me and my friend who I went on with were joking and saying "It's taller than the Empire State Building! Ahhh!" and we screamed as lound as we could when we dropped. It was fun!

"Could the Kardas Party please come to the restaurant now" they said on the lind speaker. Right when they said that we knew we had to get there! You could get pizza, chiken nuggets or hamburgers there, and french fries, and I got pizza, yet I didnt like it. But the cake was great! It tasted very good. Here is a picture of everyone that we took in the Party Room.

Time for carnival games! We played all kinds of game, like ones wear you shoot water in a hole. I was like the 3rd to win, for the 2nd time I played. I choose a blue peace pillow but there was a lot of cool things like stuffed animals. I even saw a mini acustic guitar! My mom realized it wasnt fair if just a few people got prizes, so everyone got prizes. It was a lot of fun! Here is a picture with us and our prizes-

Thanks for reading this sneak peek! As you can see my party was a lot of fun, and I would like to thank my mom, and also my dad, for making this party happen. We also handed out party bags with colored locker mirors, nice locker magnets (we are going to the middle school this year with lockers) cool flavored taffy, twix, bracelets my sister made with string (oh yeah, i thank her for making those) and 2 cool pencils!

I hope you enjoyed this fun ride by reading this blog post!

Now let me set a spell and ask my fellow ranchers out there: What would YOU want? Bigger red beefin' boogers, or just more of the smaller ones? movie recommendation

We saw a "delightful" (I don't ordinarily use that word) movie that's out now (PG-13) - "Julia and Julie" about 2 true stories - one of which is Julia Child's. Mitch and I saw it a few days ago and then I took Lauren to see it after that. It's a feast for the eyes with scenes of Paris circa '50's as well as lots of eating and cooking. The other true story is a contemporary one about Julie who idolizes Julia Child and that takes place in a not-too-attractive part of Queens, but her story is interesting as well. Anyway, very enjoyable and if you need to feed your visual appetite, I definitely recommend it. Sari

boffo performance at the center

last night we experienced the "creme de la creme" of musical theater...rodgers and hammerstein's "south pacific" was nothing less than superb! lincoln center hosted (where's the famous fountain that i remember?) - at the moment the entire complex is under construction, but no worry...the quality of the show was at the height of perfection. for all of you familiar with the score, it doesn't get better than this. impeccably cast, riveting production..doesn't matter that some of us have seen this movie many times over - it didn't disappoint. strongly recommended. leaves you wanting more. sounds like a kardas mets review...s.

DC

Well, Georgetown and DC were lots of fun. The 'Newseum' (huge interactive museum devoted to the news and various news media) was awesome and a MUST-SEE. We also took a double decker tour bus all over town (got off at White House and Washington Monument) though you get driven past all the sites and important buildings. Some of us wanted to loop around and around and ride on it all day (ha ha) but the sun was very hot and then the sky opened up with rain! The restaurants and shops at Georgetown were very cool and that's where our hotel was.

Michael is running a full schedule with his Sports Industry Management class at Georgetown U. but has already gone to visit the Washington Nationals executive offices (and got to sit in the Nats dugout). Friday night they will go to a game. Today they're off to a big golf tournament. From what I understand there are many speakers and lecturers that come each day and the kids are also working on group projects for the week. His dorm is spacious and GORGEOUS and faces the Potomac River. He will be home on Sunday, yaaay!

Answer To Riddle

Guesses were flooding in the blog. (1 guess) People were very curious. I added a couple extra days. This is it, the answer to my riddle. Now first I have to say thank you for everyone who participated. To refresh your memory, here is the riddle.

A patient is sick. He will die in about a year if the doctor doesn't give him it's medicine. Although the patient is still alive he is still very sick, and never feels well. The doctor has the medicine, yet he won't give it to him. If the doctor waits much longer, the patient will die.
How does this relate to this blog?

Really, how does this relate to the blog? Well, before I say the answer, I have to say something else. All particapents were wrong. So does this mean nobody gets a prize? Normally, yes, nobody gets a prize, but since only one person answered, they get a prize for being the only one answering. And also, the outcome of how many people answered kind of has to do with the answer. Here is the answer-

The patient is the blog. The doctors are you. Yes, you. all bloggers on this blog are the doctors. ( Kardas', Suval's, Kassin's). If you noticed, the blog's new's has been going very slowly. It is only me, Grandma betty, and mom (cheryl). The rest of you have the medicine, which is the news, yet you are not giving it to the patient (blog) meaning you are not posting it. If the doctor waits much longer, it will die. Or in reality words, if everyone just stops posting on it, it will die, meaning it will be done with posts, comments and polls.

Yeah, that is it. The reason I made this riddle was because I just thought of it, and I thought it would be fun to share. But I don't know if it turned out fun because only 1 person participated. And now after I said this, some people are going to be like ' Don't say it wasn't fun, yes it was! i just didn't know it was ending, I was still thinking'. But another thing I warned you in the comment you had 1 more EXTRA day, so that is no excuse. Now that I am reading it over I sound like a teacher or a strict parent, so sorry. But participants, remember, you will get a prize.

P.S- It is summer vacation!!!!!! :)

Home Run!

The Mets sure scored a home run with having Citi Field as their home park. It is the coolest place I have ever been to. It is just soooooo amazing! I am going to tell you about Citi Field

Arriving At Citi Field
We were almost there, and I was so excited! I asked and we were just soon about there. We were on a highway and I saw the Met's Citi Filed sign that they have on top of their scoreboard. I was so very excited when I saw that, i was going crazy. We got there about 2 minutes later. I saw the stadium, it was beautiful! It looked just like pictures, and it was just amazing. it is like a magical painting coming to life. We saw the fan walk, and found Michael's brick that he has that says "It's All About Baseball And Mets"  (with his full name on it). I wish I could have one, because it is a piece of Citi Field. There were tons of bricks with stuff on them. They were so cool! And then we went in, and it was magical and awesome. When you first go in it is the Jackie Robinson rotunda. It was very nice. Then there was a big cool Met's Gift Shop called The Team Store or something. I really wanted to go in. Citi Field was beautiful, old fashioned, modern, retro, and kid friendly. They had tons of food court places and stands. It was amazing!

Food
The food was amazing. From typical ballpark food (hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, french fries) which were amazing and cooked to perfection, to seafood and Subway, Italian food and Mexican food it was just amazing! I got pizza, and it was really good. They have a big area with tons of food places, and picnic benches and tables. You were outside yet in the stadium. It was so magnificent! They had famous places ( famous from Citi field) like Shake Shack and Blue Smoke. Everything was just great. They also had Dip n' Dots (ice cream dots) and Blue (for mets) cotton candy, pretzals, popcorn, nachos, and so much more! They also had 5 star restauraunts. The food was the best!

Great for Families
Wait, wait, let me rephrase that- Perfect for families! They have a kid section near the big outside food section. It has a mini field where kids can go and try to hit home runs. I didn't see it up close and personal, but I saw a lot of pictures of it. I would've went into it, but I think it is for younger kids. They also have a "Hershey Park Dunk Tank" where someone who has the job goes in, puts on a jersey of the opposing team on, and you line up to try to throw the ball and dunk her. It is filled with pillows. There is a thing that records how fast you throw the ball. The kid who threw the fastest ball would get a prize. I didn't do this, but I wish I did. We were to busy. But for sure, Citi Field is perfect for families!

Gift Shop
At one point in the game, the had to get a new Umpire at home plate because the ump was hurt, so that took a while. So me and my dad decided to go to the gift shop, The Team Store. It was amazing! They had so many great things it took me a very long time to decide on what to get. They had Met's T-Shirts, a shirt that said "Professor Reyes", bobble heads, Mr.Met stuffed animals, tons of unique met hats, met pens, foam fingers, pennants, key chains, figurines of met players, mini colored bats, unique baseballs, and so much more. I got a pink mini bat that said Met's on it, and a a baseball card pack of 50 cards with just Met players to share with the family. The gift shop was spectacular, I could of lived there!

The Actual Field
We got in our seats which we didn't think were close, yet they were pretty close. Although we couldn't see the scoreboard, it was fine. The good thing is at one point it was raining (there was a rain delay) yet there was a thing over us and we were covered. The seats were a little bit bigger and had more leg room, and the field was great. Something that I thought was really cool was you can see the met's in the Met's dugout which looked very nice. During the rain delay, me and my mom waved big at the dugout, and I swear, it really looked like one of the players waved back. So, the field was out of this world!

Citi Field Rocks
Everything about Citi Filed was great. All of it was amazing! I enjoyed going to Citi Filed even thoughn sadly the mets lost. I can't imagine the new Yankee Stadium being even near as nice as Citi Field. Yes, I know the new Yankee Stadium is nice, but for sure not close to as nice as Citi Field. One thing I can say is that Yankee Stadium is like a ballpark, but Citi Filed is like a baseball home.

CITI FIELD

Though the outcome of the game was not a good one today, I just have to say that CItifield is the most beautiful baseball stadium I've ever seen! Alsolutely awesome in every way. You Shea fans out there, please don't be afraid of it. I know you have your personal memories but there is truly no comparison between the two places :-)

Comment on how you think it does, and in a 6 days I will say what it means. If you get close to it you will get a prize. P.S- You have to think real hard. it isn't the best way to explain it, so think outside the circle. Also, it is not true, nobody is sick (just in case you didn't know) but remember this is very confusing (my mom says so) so this may be very hard.

small hint- i would give you 3 days, but I thought and I should give you 6 days, because you probably won't be on in time.

Elizabeth's Dance Recital

Wow, what a enjoyable dance recital I saw last night! Elizabeth's danced in 3 different segments.. Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet. They were all great but I have to say that my favorite was Elizabeth doing a ballet. I think it's the first time she ever did ballet and she did it wonderfully well. her Hip Hop and Jazz were also great.
So thanks, Elizabeth and Nicole, Grandma saw some great shows this Spring.

The poll questions

Hey, Not to brag or anything but I've been guessing right a lot lately about who is the author of the poll question. Evan, I had your number this past week... Peter, also and Elizabeth. But of course I'm not the only that guessing correctly so who else of you are out there? Don't be so modest! Tell!
PS The poll questions are really fabulous (sp?), imaginative and interesting!

Nicole

Last week I went to Nicole's Spring Concert where she played the flute with the band, sang in the chorus and announced one number. All 3 were great.
Today I went to her dance recital, her segment was a dance about France, The costumes, music , choreography and Nicole's dancing were wonderful. I really enjoyed it.
Happily for me, next week I'll be going to Elizabeth's recital. I am so looking forward to it because I know from the past years that it is ALWAYS GREAT.

no go

it was a valiant effort by calhoun's mock trial team, but unfortunately they lost in the finals to a very tough competitor - clark h.s. (who happens to offer a mock trial class as part of their schedule). anyway, it is the first time calhoun has made it this far, and hopefully they'll re-emerge next year as successful. the two teams were invited to a special awards dinner/performance sponsored by the nassau county bar association...

New Polling Rules

Okay, an anonymous member made a suggestion that we are going to implement.  From now on-- everyone will be asked to contribute a weekly polling question. If you are notified (via e-mail) you have 24 hours to get back to me with your question and answers and it will be added to the blog. Note that along with the weekly polling question there will be a second  question underneath asking who you think wrote the current poll. Not all names will be listed each week (but the actual contributer will be of course!) If you are the contributer you may NOT vote in the 2nd poll.

Citi Field

So, we went to the second Mets home game of the season as the Mets beat the Padres at Citi Field. There's much more to it than you can see just from the pictures... there's plenty of places to eat (I had pizza), and walking around it, it feels much more like a minor league stadium on the inside than Shea ever could've. It's definitely a much more visually interesting stadium than Shea was. Let's go Mets!

we the people in philadelphia

just declaring that we got back from our busy couple of days in the land of the declaration and the constitution..philadelphia. if you haven't been to constitution center, we all recommend it - saw an awesome multimedia show about "we the people" and there were many things to read, see, touch, etc. of course went to independence hall, liberty bell, betsy ross' house. one of the highlights was a horse and buggy tour around the historic district - many, many historic houses and buildings. visited edgar allen poe's house (outside the main city area) and it was creepy as expected. drove around the entire city of philly (very do-able since it's not large) and went to what was voted the best philly cheese steak around - Pat's steaks...line around the block, cars pulling up from everywhere to get one - neighborhood was very much like bensonhurst. in fact, it reminded us all of spumoni gardens where people come from all over, there are a few picnic tables outside (it's strictly a take-out window, sp. g. has an indoor option.) drove around u of penn but didn't get out and couldn't really get a feel for the campus on the inside, but got a feeling for the surrounding neighborhood. phila. museum of art had an exhibit of cezanne's work but tickets were hard to come by. all in all, a busy time and a great place to visit.

OPEN LETTER

OPEN LETTER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE SURVEYS
Dear Administrator,
A survey last month asked the question: What is your favotite food? I am absolutely intrigued with one of the answers and I MUST know who answered INDIAN food. I am going to take a guess based mostly on the process of elimination but before I do, is there a reward if I guess correctly?

Me and Moses tried to post this yesterday but for some reason I couldn't get it on with the stupid webtv thing I have.

Wizard of Oz

On Thursday, my whole grade at my school went to see the Wizard of Oz at Madison Square Garden! It was really good. We got to school early (although we left very late and had to wait a lot) at 8:00 and went on a bus to the train station. We got on a train to Penn Station. Our grade got our own car on the train, but it might have been 2 cars. We got off, went up the stairs to Madison Square Garden, and to the WaMu Theatre. It was a lot of fun! We did not have great seats, it was up high, but not too high, and we saw the stage perfectly. It was so cool, and I heard there was 1200 kids there (only 89 were from my grade)! At the end Toto (the dog) got the most claps (and it was a real dog, NOT a pesron dressed as a dog). It was the best field trip ever!
P.S.- That was the first time I saw the Wizard of Oz, first time ever.

Selling Candy

Yeah...so, my high school baseball team is raising some money by selling massive amounts of candy. They sent us each home with a case full of Reese's Cups, almond Hershey bars, Twizzlers, and Kit Kat bars. All but the Hershey bars are jumbo-sized...

Does anyone want some? It's $2.00 per candy. Order fast, before supplies run out!

mock trial

just to let you all know...evan's mock trial team is down to the "elite eight" - only 8 teams left to compete for nassau county (started with 64 like the ncaa). next trial is next week...we'll keep you posted. his mom.

Toys in the Attic

Very excited .. 'Found' my original electric guitar (from the 4th grade) in the attic today. It's a 1971 cherry red semi-hollow body double cutaway red Harmony Rocket! I haven't seen or touched this guitar for a decade. Just plugged it in, nice jangle-y bright sound.
I logged on this morning eager to cast my vote on the new question...but...but...uh.
I have my own Question. WHO is that 2nd voter?
Question: Does anyone remember when Saddam Hussein was the only candidate on the ballot in Iraq?
Question: Have any of you heard Josh Grobin sing "You Raise Me Up" ?
Question: I haven't really paid much attention to bono, or Bono, or BONO or the last one. Do you think I should? Betty

Mike makes the team!!

Mike has made his high school Varsity Baseball team!! It's true that by this stage in the game only the best players are left trying out, and so as luck would have it none of them got cut (21 players)!
Now the tryouts have morphed into practices... all we need now is some nice spring weather :)

And while we're talking about Michael and baseball, check out his very own blog (though you won't see any short 3 sentence posts on this one)  http://fantasybaseball-stats-projections.mlblogs.com/

Hard covers will be $1 each starting sometime this week, paper backs under a buck. Picked up an Isaac Asimov History of Science and a collection of Mark Twain books.

Save the environment

I was reading Seventeen magazine at one of my friend's house this weekend, and there were a few tips on how to save energy. One that I remember was instead of using Google, or whatever search engine you use, try using Blackle.com . It is powered by Google, but the screen is mainly black. It requires less energy to display a black or dark screen than it is for a monitor to display a white or light screen. There are so many little things that if we all did, we would make a big difference. Here you can find some more tips: http://www.blackle.com/tips/.

Oh, and just a few months ago, we started recycling! Finally...

Yesss, today is a snow day! Over the weekend, i saw the Jonas Brothers 3D movie with some people. It was good, they even had a new song. They show some behind the scences stuff, and then parts of concerts. Much cheaper way to feel like your at a concert. $15 for the movie, or $50 + for the concert. I've also seen the U2 3D concert, and also the Hannah Montana one with Nicole. All of the previews were for other movies coming out in 3D. There seems to be alot, this must be the new thing. That's all for now...

We just found out that tomorrow will be a snow day, so we are all excited! Since it will be cold, enjoy this video of a fire we are having that I video taped. Although you can't feel how warm it is, just imagine it and enjoy the crackling sounds and flames.

Found my thesaurus - ready to blog

Hey everybody! I know some people think this stuff "is right up my alley", but it really isn't...And I'm no vegetarian either!...Nonetheless, Kudos to Grandma Betty (Perry White) Kassin on another superb issue of Shweky Reflections...Loved it all, but was particularly was impressed with the article on cuz Michael Barnathan - he seems like a true Renaissance man. (See, here's one of my problems here - I just spent 5 minutes looking up the word - can I jump from this blog to a Spellcheck Thing?)....Cheryl, What a great week of 2 Irish icons in NY. Beside U2 hitting Letterman for 5 nights, and some other performances (Fordahm University), Van Morrison is currently in the city - 2 nights at WAMU in the Garden + 2 nights at the Beacon + on Jimmy Fallon's opening show+ even doing Regis and Kelly on Tuesday morning...By the way, Sari just showed me the spellcheck symbol - Hey Mitch, welcome to the 21st century!....Nicole, got to get the lowdown on your trip to Philly....Jonas flick is out. Guess you will see it, if not already...Pete, will check out that MIT site eventually, and the way I move, I guess that means........?Well, Ciao for now,... .......Mitch

They have been mailed and you should all receive your issues either today or tomorrow. Take your time reading it. because I am going to expect your comments and critiques; either on the issue in general or on a specific article.
Hey! Your mother/grandmother, (with Sally and Morris) is writing and editing a newspaper, which , by the way, we now distribute to almost 90 households! Aren't you all just a teeny weeny impressed?
Love You all anyway! Betty

Check out this web site!

I seldom recommend a web site ... but I am going to recommend a web site. Universities like MIT are part of an open consortium (www.ocwconsortium.org) that is making college courses and lecture series available online (for free) as video, audio, text, or podcast downloads. MIT's list of courses is impressive. Enjoy! Peter

Hi to all my loved ones (ha ha) This has been a grueling experience for me and of course for Cheryl. But I still think that she exaggerated my lack of technical know-how. Oh oh, Cheryl just informed me that as the Administrator of this blog, she can change it at her own discretion. So, now what? I guess I'll just go on with my tale of woe. Seriously, though, Cheryl had been very patient and helpful under very trying circumstances. However, without the help from Elizabeth it would not have been possible. Thanks Elizabeth!
So, come on y"all. Post your blogs! Let's see if it works!

Need your help!

Hi Everyone!  While Mom/Grandma Betty was suppose to make the first post here, she is unfortunately having a multitude of problems logging on and getting started. And because I've reached the end of MY rope, I'm hoping one of you can pick it up from here and try and step her through it. Since you will all be coming on as "invited" authors, you'll be acutely aware of the exact steps she'll need to log on (as opposed to me, the administrator of the blog).

Thanks and good luck (you're gonna need it :))
