On Thursday, my whole grade at my school went to see the Wizard of Oz at Madison Square Garden! It was really good. We got to school early (although we left very late and had to wait a lot) at 8:00 and went on a bus to the train station. We got on a train to Penn Station. Our grade got our own car on the train, but it might have been 2 cars. We got off, went up the stairs to Madison Square Garden, and to the WaMu Theatre. It was a lot of fun! We did not have great seats, it was up high, but not too high, and we saw the stage perfectly. It was so cool, and I heard there was 1200 kids there (only 89 were from my grade)! At the end Toto (the dog) got the most claps (and it was a real dog, NOT a pesron dressed as a dog). It was the best field trip ever!
P.S.- That was the first time I saw the Wizard of Oz, first time ever.

nicole, so you were 'off to see the wizard'! sounds like a lot of fun. the first time i saw the movie (i was five and way too young, ma) i was so scared of the witch...she still haunts me to this day. from sari, your cowardly aunt.
Nicole, It sounds like quite an adventure, taking the LIRR to the city and going to Madison Square Garden.
I guess that Toto had to be trained to act in that part, don't you think?
I wonder if your Aunt Sari had seen that show instead of the movie, would she have liked it better? And yes, I suppose she must have been too young, at age 5 to see it. But Nicole, as you said to me in your comment on the post by Lauren about her 'pillow fight', that I, Grandma shouldn't worry when I "miss" things, I must say that I don't worry because after all I am only HUMAN.
Oh, one more thing, if Aunt Sari is the 'cowardly lion,' then I am the 'tin man' badly in need of oil.
But Nicole. it was great to hear about your fun day. And by the way, take a look at the latest issue of the Shweky newsletter, at the article by Cousin Joanie and her collection of movie plates, See if you notice anything.
Nic, whenever you want to see the movie just let me know... and just for the record, I'm Glenda- the GOOD witch.
Cheryl,
Of course you are!
Nicole + crew, If we are all picking characters from the 'Oz - then I'd want to be one of those flying monkeys. I always thought they were kinda cool. ;) Were they in the play?
Dad, yes the flying monkeys were in the play, but this time I am pretty sure that they were people dressed up as them. Wait, of course they were people, they wouldnt be able to train and monkey to fly and stuff.
:D, Nicole
