no go
it was a valiant effort by calhoun's mock trial team, but unfortunately they lost in the finals to a very tough competitor - clark h.s. (who happens to offer a mock trial class as part of their schedule). anyway, it is the first time calhoun has made it this far, and hopefully they'll re-emerge next year as successful. the two teams were invited to a special awards dinner/performance sponsored by the nassau county bar association...

New Polling Rules
Okay, an anonymous member made a suggestion that we are going to implement. From now on-- everyone will be asked to contribute a weekly polling question. If you are notified (via e-mail) you have 24 hours to get back to me with your question and answers and it will be added to the blog. Note that along with the weekly polling question there will be a second question underneath asking who you think wrote the current poll. Not all names will be listed each week (but the actual contributer will be of course!) If you are the contributer you may NOT vote in the 2nd poll.

Citi Field
So, we went to the second Mets home game of the season as the Mets beat the Padres at Citi Field. There's much more to it than you can see just from the pictures... there's plenty of places to eat (I had pizza), and walking around it, it feels much more like a minor league stadium on the inside than Shea ever could've. It's definitely a much more visually interesting stadium than Shea was. Let's go Mets!

we the people in philadelphia
just declaring that we got back from our busy couple of days in the land of the declaration and the constitution..philadelphia. if you haven't been to constitution center, we all recommend it - saw an awesome multimedia show about "we the people" and there were many things to read, see, touch, etc. of course went to independence hall, liberty bell, betsy ross' house. one of the highlights was a horse and buggy tour around the historic district - many, many historic houses and buildings. visited edgar allen poe's house (outside the main city area) and it was creepy as expected. drove around the entire city of philly (very do-able since it's not large) and went to what was voted the best philly cheese steak around - Pat's steaks...line around the block, cars pulling up from everywhere to get one - neighborhood was very much like bensonhurst. in fact, it reminded us all of spumoni gardens where people come from all over, there are a few picnic tables outside (it's strictly a take-out window, sp. g. has an indoor option.) drove around u of penn but didn't get out and couldn't really get a feel for the campus on the inside, but got a feeling for the surrounding neighborhood. phila. museum of art had an exhibit of cezanne's work but tickets were hard to come by. all in all, a busy time and a great place to visit.

OPEN LETTER
OPEN LETTER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE SURVEYS
Dear Administrator,
A survey last month asked the question: What is your favotite food? I am absolutely intrigued with one of the answers and I MUST know who answered INDIAN food. I am going to take a guess based mostly on the process of elimination but before I do, is there a reward if I guess correctly?

Moses and Me
Me and Moses were very proud of you kids at the Seder in Grandma Rae's house, and the way each one of you read your part so beautifully.
Me and Moses tried to post this yesterday but for some reason I couldn't get it on with the stupid webtv thing I have.

Wizard of Oz
On Thursday, my whole grade at my school went to see the Wizard of Oz at Madison Square Garden! It was really good. We got to school early (although we left very late and had to wait a lot) at 8:00 and went on a bus to the train station. We got on a train to Penn Station. Our grade got our own car on the train, but it might have been 2 cars. We got off, went up the stairs to Madison Square Garden, and to the WaMu Theatre. It was a lot of fun! We did not have great seats, it was up high, but not too high, and we saw the stage perfectly. It was so cool, and I heard there was 1200 kids there (only 89 were from my grade)! At the end Toto (the dog) got the most claps (and it was a real dog, NOT a pesron dressed as a dog). It was the best field trip ever!
P.S.- That was the first time I saw the Wizard of Oz, first time ever.
