Ode to Halloween

I love Halloween. The house is all decked out (although I could use more outdoor stuff - Party City near my house closed down and I do miss it - but I digress), the bowl is filled with candy and I'm ready for the trick or treaters. I've had, but not nearly enough. The problem is, our neighbors to the right and left don't participate, so kids have to decide if we're worth going to the end for (sometimes they just turn the corner across the street - you know how it is, you're tired of walking and you need to get the most bang for your buck so you stick to the side of the street with the most decorations.) I love trick or treaters and I miss trick or treating (maybe I should rent-a-kid for Halloween so I could take them out). BTW, the costumes are especially good this year I noticed - very put together, none of these kids with only but a bag to put candy in...Yesterday at work was actually fun - all Halloween, all day. Did any of you kids get dressed in costume for school? Fun, fun, fun. Sari

Guess Who

Guess who Briana and Andrew sat near at a restaurant recently?

Hint: A famous couple, he is a baseball player and she is a Hollywood actress.

Anyone want to try it?

YAYY I POSTED!!!

Hey just checking in with everyone (because i guess the poetry was a sign I needed to participate more ahaha).I don't really have much to say, except I'm still hanging in there when it comes to the stressors of school. That news writing class is still hated with a passion, but I'm in the middle of working on the in-depth story(it's on the debate regarding the employment of synthetic turf in the district playing fields...ugh woo but that's my Merrick beat for ya aha) so at least it will be over soon.Film studies also is becoming a pain, because while I like analyzing films for content/themes, I'm not a fan of learning the technicalities of it all. We have to analyze a scene shot by shot for our midterm paper which I'm DREADING. Not to mention, our textbook is the most obnoxious thing to read, because the author talks to us like we're already experienced cinematographers, and uses ridiculously complicated language to explain a concept that could easily be simplified...like how a wide angle lens differs from a telephoto lens. Still, love my adolescent psych class though- that professor is HYSTERICAL. So it aint all bad ;)

**Also still mourning the loss of my i-pod, but I'm hearing my music through youtube for now. Speaking of music, I don't know why I'm all of a sudden getting into Springsteen!!!!!!!!! ahaha. Lately it's been obsessive listening between thunder road, badlands, promise land and the river (which is pretty sad actually). LOVE his lyrics.

Okay so that's it for now...pretty sure this long blog makes up for my absence on this site = ) toodles!-Lauren

NOT HALLOWEEN

No, it is not Halloween or any other holiday. It is not a birthday or anniversary. It is just a day that I am thinking about the bright and talented people in our Family.

We have dancers and choreographers, singers, musicians, a journalist, chessplayers, minds brilliant with numbers and figures, debaters, creative writers and actors, gymnasts and athletes, bloggers, and our social butterflies.

So, my ever so clever grandchildren, I WANT MORE PARTICIPATION FROM EACH OF YOU ON OUR FAMILY NEWSWIRE!!

Don't be so modest
There's no reason why
To hide your light
That shines so bright
Just because you're a little shy.

So can we add POET to the list?
Guys and girls, I challenge you to add a couple of lines to that poem.

Check it out!!

If you're looking for some good entertainment you might want to check out Nicole's latest YouTube webisode! Yes, she's been doing this for a couple of months and Webisode 5 just went up today. Of course, there is no personal name or other identifying info connected to it as she goes under the name of "Firecracker Studios". You'll obviously need to be able to watch videos in order to see this. So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy :)

Cheryl TWICE?!!

My Dear cheryl, and Cheryl,
I know...we ALL know that you are TWO times smarter, cuter, wiser, busier, and more wonderful that the rest of us. Is that why your name is listed TWO times as the one who wrote the new poll question?
Love ya too Sari !

Hard to fathom...

Hope you're all having a nice weekend. Whatever it is, it's got to be better than Michael's. After taking the SAT's yesterday, he began doing homework which he estimates will take him 24 hours. Yes, I said 24 hours! Luckily it's a 3 day weekend :((
